TCS in major expansion in Warsaw
8/8/2021
Analysts from PAC met (late June 2021) with Prabal Datta, General Manager Hungary, to understand TCS's action plan for expanding its operations in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
TCS is one of the largest IT service providers on the market, with close to 490,000 employees and revenues of over USD 22 billion in FY21, which ended in March 2021. TCS has a well-established network of delivery centers, with 76 international locations and 107 national locations. TCS has a global delivery center in Hungary, which is also the central hub of TCS's European Delivery Network (EDeN). This center mainly supports TCS's international and European customers, but also Hungarian organizations on a smaller scale. TCS's Hungarian business unit leverages the entire portfolio of services, including cognitive business operations, IT infrastructure, and digital transformation services (business applications, cloud, analytics, automation, quality assurance, etc.). In 2020, due to the Covid-19 crisis, all organizations adopted the work-from-anywhere model. The pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital transformation by customers. TCS managed to capitalize on this trend and increased its headcount in Hungary by around 10%, to 2,700 employees. The company plans to add at least another 300 staff to its local organization by 2022. The company also has operations in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Estonia. hese business units are smaller than the one in Hungary. TCS plans to accelerate investments in Eastern European countries to address increased demand for services from Europe. TCS Hungary supports all vertical industries, with a particular focus on banking and financial services, manufacturing, and life sciences. The company can reference many projects based on innovative technologies. One of them is Vodafone Hungary, one of the leading telecom operators in the country. TCS helped Vodafone improve the digital customer experience by transforming - its legacy marketing systems to an AI and data-driven real-time digital version using an intelligent, customer-centric, and flexible infrastructure based on Pega's marketing platform and Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Another exciting project in the region took place in Estonia. TCS deployed its flagship banking solution, TCS BaNCS, for a leading Baltics bank and drove cloud transformation for the mobile banking application based on AWS infrastructure. The enterprise sector in CEE countries can tap into TCS's horizontal and vertical knowledge to align and implement their digital transformation agendas according to the trends set by the global organizations.
