Daniela Vercelino, Societe Generale Global Solution Centre: “This year of pandemic brought a new dimension for leaders"

“The best expert is not always the best leader. Sometimes you can develop certain skills and competencies that you need and sometimes not. There is this matter of potential that has actually started to become extremely important around 3-4 years back. Therefore, when we discuss about promoting, it’s not enough to be a good expert, but you need to have the potential to grow into a leadership role,” Daniela Vercelino, HR Director, Societe Generale Global Solution Centre said during the Romanian Business Services Forum 2021 organized by Outsourcing Today.
“We rely on potential. This year of pandemic brought a new dimension for leaders. We still need to build on a human kind of competencies that I would call compassion. Compassion embodies a lot of skills from understanding differences in today’s reality.
The hybrid working model is for sure something that our company will embrace. Some people are asking to come back in the office because they miss the human interaction which cannot be replaced by online meetings. The societies have evolved and survived because of the feeling of belonging to a group. The workplace will become a centre for meeting, sharing experience sometimes beyond the specificity of the job. We have to ensure that the hybrid model will create a community.”
