LEMAN, one of the oldest logistics operators in Europe, has opened a Shared Services Center in Gdańsk. The new office not only supports the group’s operations worldwide, but is also steadily expanding its team – offering regional specialists the opportunity to grow in an international environment.
With over 125 years of tradition, LEMAN is a global logistics company that has been operating in Poland since January 2025 via its newly launched Service Hub in Gdańsk. This marks a significant milestone for the enterprise, which was founded in 1900 in Copenhagen and today employs around 800 people across 12 countries on three continents. The company offers comprehensive services in ocean, air, and road freight, warehousing, and customs clearance. Strategic Processes and New Roles The new office in the Tricity plays a strategic role in LEMAN’s global value chain. The Gdańsk team is responsible for key support processes that enable the group’s operations around the world – from finance and IT to HR, operational support, data analysis, and process optimization. This allows the company’s operational branches to focus on client relationships and market development. Currently, the Gdańsk office employs around 68 people, and the company plans further team expansion. LEMAN is looking for specialists in finance, accounting, IT support, data analytics, and HR administration. The company also plans to collaborate with local universities. – The team in the Tricity supports key business processes for the entire Group, allowing operational units to fully focus on the customer. Poland, with its central location and excellent talent pool, was a natural choice for us. We are excited to build a strong team here and grow alongside the region – said Tomasz Szewciów, Managing Director of LEMAN Service Hub Poland. Partnership at Every Stage LEMAN’s entry into the region was supported by Invest in Pomerania – a regional initiative coordinated by the Pomerania Development Agency. A dedicated team of experts assisted the company at each critical stage of the project, providing key market insights, facilitating connections, and laying the groundwork for long-term investment growth. As a result, Gdańsk emerged as a natural strategic location for LEMAN’s operations. People Make the Region Strong The decision to locate in the Tricity was driven by access to highly qualified talent, excellent transport connectivity, and a dynamic business environment that has long attracted international shared services centers. – LEMAN’s presence in Pomerania demonstrates that our region is not only a logistics gateway to Europe, but also a place where global companies are locating increasingly strategic functions – said Marcin Grzegory, Deputy Director of Invest in Pomerania. – A stable business environment and effective cooperation between local authorities and regional partners are reinforcing the Tricity’s position on the global shared services map – translating into high-quality jobs and continuous skills development across the region.
