Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has announced the expansion of its capabilities in the rapidly evolving Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) space, with a new engineering center in Romania as well as two new Automotive Delivery Centers in Germany. The new hubs mark a strategic move to help TCS’ global automotive clients accelerate their transition to next-gen mobility solutions.
The engineering center in Romania will focus on designing and building advanced automotive software platforms to support early-stage development and innovation, while the delivery centers in Germany will support automakers in developing and deploying TCS’ software-driven services that cater to autonomous driving, infotainment, safety systems, and connected vehicle technologies. This expansion is part of TCS’ long-term strategy to strengthen its end-to-end automotive software capabilities, chip-to-cloud technologies, and services. The strategic location of these centers will enable close collaboration with leading European OEMs and global automotive enterprises, providing nearshore capabilities. The new centers currently house over 100 professionals who will work together with more than 2,000 SDV Engineers across TCS global locations. (16 July 2025)
The American giant Amazon is laying off several hundred employees from its Retail Business Services division in Iași. Thus, for the third year in a row, the largest employer in Iași County is laying off part of its staff. Amazon staff in Iași were informed on this occasion that the company is completely abandoning the delivery of this catalog creation service to their partners, but that there will be no staff reductions among the company’s IT staff. At the moment, the decision is limited to a series of non-technical roles, which target the Retail Business Services team. The company, however, claims that it remains dedicated to continued investments in the region and that this change in the staffing scheme does not mean a step back from the Iași market. “Following a thorough analysis, we have announced our plans which may include reducing the number of employees in the Retail Business Services team in Romania. We have already informed the employees whose roles may be impacted and we will take the necessary measures to protect their rights during this process,” said Aleksandra Zarychta-Kuzalska, Corporate Communications Lead in CEE, quoted by Ziarul de Iași. At the end of 2024, the Iași-based IT giant had 3,424 employees, almost 20% fewer than in the peak year, 2022, when the American company established in Iași operated with an average number of 4,234 employees. Following the establishment of its Hungarian subsidiary in 2021, Tulip Interfaces is expanding its Budapest hub with a new R&D project. The American manufacturing technology company’s local team will grow by 26 engineers as a result of the investment, whose task will be to support the development of the company’s ‘no-code’ platform. With this R&D project, valued at EUR 5.8 million, the company further strengthens its position in the European tech market.
Tulip Interfaces was founded in 2014 by a group of engineers from the MIT Media Lab. The Tulip platform is based on more than a decade of research into frontline operations and is led by world-class experts. The company’s solutions support customers in implementing the necessary steps for Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. In addition to its headquarters in the United States, Tulip also has offices in Germany and Hungary, and its services are used in 47 countries worldwide. Tulip is a cloud-based platform where customers can build their own applications without writing code or having any programming knowledge. These applications connect people to the machines, tools, and systems they need to use in their work. The applications are fully customizable to meet user needs. Tulip’s app library also offers templates and best practices to support application development, which can be freely integrated or modified even after deployment if workflows change. The company established its Hungarian subsidiary in 2021 in Budapest. The software development center currently employs 50 people. Thanks to the latest R&D project, the company’s local operations will be expanded by 26 engineers whose task will be to support the development of the ‘no-code’ platform. ISS, a leading workplace and facility management company, is once again investing in the Pomeranian region. The decision made two years ago to establish the Finance Service Centre in Gdańsk was supported by Invest in Pomerania, an initiative coordinated by the Pomeranian Development Agency. From the outset, the team actively supported ISS in the location selection and business launch process. Now, the Danish company has opened an additional floor, significantly scaling up its operations in the region.
Thanks to access to a skilled workforce, a mature business services ecosystem, and a stable economic environment, the TriCity area continues to strengthen its position as a key hub for the business services sector (BSS) in Europe. These factors played a crucial role in ISS’ decision to establish its finance centre in Gdańsk – alongside its key locations in Copenhagen and Warsaw. TriCity – a natural choice for the BSS Sector The expansion into a new floor at the Wave office building, developed by Skanska, represents more than just infrastructure growth – it is above all an investment in people and in the continued development of high workplace standards rooted in equality, diversity, and inclusive office space design. The new space will enable ISS to scale its operations and hire up to 200 additional professionals, further unlocking the benefits of standardisation and efficiency. – We chose Gdańsk because we saw a unique combination of a mature market and continuously growing potential. It’s one of the easiest places to enter and grow a business – offering access to highly educated talent, a strong academic base, and a work culture that aligns with our values of work-life balance. Today, we are growing faster than expected, and the decision to lease another floor is a natural next step – we need space for the new teams we’re building. This is just the beginning of our presence in the region. – says Paweł Rowicki, Head of Global Shared Services Transformation at ISS. ISS delivers integrated facility management services to 40,000 clients in over 30 countries and employs approximately 325,000 people worldwide. Its services include cleaning, technical, food and workplace. |
